Journal Nicky

As a three year old girl Nicky went to Rimini with her parents and brother. One of her first memories of Italy: the Barbie doll she got at a local market, “it sang Italian songs!”. The love for local markets in Italy originated then. At 6 years old she visited Lake Garda for the first time. Now, she comes back every summer and it feels like coming home.

Can you describe Italy in one sentence?

For Nicky, being in Italy gives the real “La dolce vita” feeling; idyllic and cozy places, delicious food and good wines, beautiful landscapes and the most beautiful lakes to cross by boat. “The special thing about Italy is that I love it more every year and it never bores me to go to the same places again.”

Your favourite dish, hotel and restaurant?

Her favorite dish is pasta aglio, olio e peperconcino and an affogato for dessert!

Her favorite hotel can be found in Genoa: NH Collection Genova Marina. It is a lovely hotel in the port of Genoa with a super nice view and from here you can just walk everywhere to explore Genoa. One of her favourite restaurants is also located in Genoa; ‘Le Piastre di Emma’. “It has a very friendly Italian owner and even the ‘locals’ queue for the tastiest pastas and vino!”

What would you like to say to someone who has never been to Italy?

Every summer Nicky goes to the east side of Lake Garda where there are a lot of cozy places to find. “Whenever you are here, rent a vespa so that you can go all places! Do not forget to stop at Bardolino, Lazise Peschiera and Garda. For the shop lovers; every morning there is a market in a different town so check where it is and drive like a real Italian to all the markets and enjoy the real Italian vibe!”
